Surge Suppressors/Snubber Networks are used to kill the impulses that get transmitted on AC source lines due to switching of heavy inductive/capacitive loads.
The network is connected across the impulse source input terminals to suppress them at the source itself.
D’square manufactures customized snubber networks/RC Elements. SIEMENS uses the RC networks for their contactors & ATLAS COPCO uses the snubber networks provided by D’SQUARE for their pneumatic compressors.
